Gene Ownership

First watch the 60 Minutes episode on gene patents.

What do you think about this?  Should a company be able to do this, they put enormous amonts of money into it should they get to see a return on it?  If we don't let them will they just stop doing research?  If they own the gene should I be able to sue them if I get breast cancer, they own the gene?
